Some of my favorite moments from last summer’s BBQ Church days took place earlier in the day as we prepared the space in which we gathered. John’s son, Noah, and I took it upon ourselves to dress and set the tables. Together Noah and I spent a good amount of time cutting and meticulously and deliberately arranging flowers in mason jars to go on each of the tables. Not only were we preparing for something holy to happen in that space later in the day, but we were encountering the holy in the midst of our preparations. In this Lenten season, as we prepare for the holy celebration of Christ’s resurrection, let us look for the holy moments we encounter along the way.
“While Jesus and his disciples were traveling, Jesus entered a village where a woman named Martha welcomed him as a guest.” (Luke 10:38)
